WHERE GOD’S CALLING MET A CHILD’S NEED—AND A MISSION BEGAN

Our Story

A MISSION ROOTED IN FAMILY AND FAITH

From Courtney Taylor, Founder of The Raya House

Hi, I'm Courtney Taylor—an educator, adoptive mom, and founder of The Raya House. This organization was born from a deeply personal journey that forever changed our family and gave us insight to what children in foster care truly need.

WHEN A CALLING BECAME OUR LIFE’S WORK

A Personal Journey into Purpose

In 2020, my husband Kevin and I became foster parents. Just a few months later, we welcomed a two-month-old baby girl into our home—our daughter, Abbigail Raya Taylor. What began as a calling to serve quickly became a life-changing mission.

THE SYSTEM WASN’T BUILT TO MEET THE WHOLE CHILD

Seeing the Gaps, Finding Our Why

As educators and parents, we saw firsthand how the foster care and education systems often fall short in meeting the emotional, academic, and spiritual needs of children. Through our journey fostering, we realized the need for a space that supports the whole child—a place where love, healing, and growth could thrive together.

A NAME THAT SPEAKS TO THE HEART OF OUR MISSION

Why “Raya”?

“Raya” means “friend” in Hebrew. It’s a name we gave our daughter to reflect the joy and connection she brought into our lives—and it perfectly captures our heart for this work. At The Raya House, we strive to be a faithful companion to every child who walks through our doors.

WHERE HEALING BEGINS AND FUTURES ARE REWRITTEN

A Place of Refuge and Renewal

The Raya House is a place where children in foster care can heal, learn, and grow in a nurturing environment rooted in faith and holistic care. It's a place of refuge, restoration, and renewal—a home built on love and purpose.

A LEGACY OF LOVE THAT LASTS FOR GENERATIONS

Our Prayer

We pray that The Raya House becomes a source of peace, healing, and lasting transformation for generations of children and families.
